Doc. RNDr. Alojz Wawruch, CSc.

He was born on 9th December 1939 in Pécs in Hungary. After school leaving exams (1958) at eleven-year high school in Bratislava he studied mathematics and physics and then since the third class also applied mathematics at The Science College of The University of Komenský in Bratislava in years 1958-1963. After studies (in 1963) he worked as an assistant at The Department of Mathematics of The Science College of The University of Komenský and after creation of new departments in 1964 he went to The Department of Numerical Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics to get after many other reorganizations to The Department of Applied Mathematics of The Mathematical and Physical College of The University of Komenský  (isolated in 1980 from The Science College of The University of Komenský). After long term sickness absence he retired in 1993.

Title RNDr. he received in 1967 and in 1989 was designate to lecturer.

The most important of his pedagogic work was numerical mathematics, especially oriented to programming with exploitation of computer art. He far sihtedly rendered the importance of computer art and wanted to equip the university with computers. It was a long time befor computers started to be used in everyday life. He connected theory with practical tasks from spheres of  industry and services in his lectures and excercises. He taught his students how to use mathematics in many spheres.  He also tried to solve the problem of  absence of  literature about  programming and numerical mathematics by writing several eductional texts from this area.

As a scientist he was concerned with theory of graphs, numerical solving of differential equations and with use of these sciences in mathematics and economy.

The most expressive feature of his scientific activity was the use of mathematics in national economics in national and also regional area. He cooperated with many institutions. For example investigation institutes, universities, ministy, hydrometeorological institute, corporation and institute of computer techniques, carcinologist institute, institute of investigation nuclear power plant and many others. Very important was cooperation of faculty with concern ZVLP Považská Bystrica because it meant notable economic contribution, financial benefit and modern computer technique’s facilities too.

Last years of his life doc. Wawruch lived in constitutional care because he was blind and immobile. He died on 16th April 1999 in Stupava.
