Prof. RNDr. Milan Hejný, Csc

 

 

Milan Hejný was born 23.5. 1936 in Turčiansky svätý Martin. When The Slovak national revolution began, his family moved to Banská Bystrica. His father was an army officer. Before end the of the war, his family moved to Prague. He studied there at an english grammar school.  In 1948 his family moved back to Martin, where Milan Hejný graduated. From 1953 he studied geometry at Karlová University in Prague.

Most of his career he was a teacher at secundary and grammar schools. From 1975 to 1979 he taught class at secondary school on Košická street and from 1984 to 1989 he taught at secondary school on Ho-chi-min street in Bratislava. He used his experiences of teaching children  to write many books and textbooks. His most important text book is The theory of teaching mathematics. There is also another important textbook - Child, book and mathematics. He also wrote „Geometry taught human thing“ or „Sixteen stories of the mathematics“.

Prof. Hejný presented his theoretical results at many international conferencies like PME? CERME or SEMT. He is a member of a council of a magazine Educational studies in Mathematics. During his over 50 years pedagogical career he has worked with thousands of students. Today, he teaches at Karlová University in Prague.
